Amazonite is a green variety of Microcline Feldspar. It is found in sites throughout the world but the finest Amazonite comes from here in Colorado. Articles made of amazonite were found in Ancient Egypt.
Fine Amazonite varies in color from yellow-green to blue-green and may also exhibit fine white streaks . It is usually cut in cabochon form.
Amazonite is a relatively inexpensive stone with the best examples showing a strong blue-green coloration with fine white lines.

Amazonite is a little soft, so care should be taken when storing it with other jewelry items set with gemstones because they can be easily scratched. Clean with a soft brush using soap and water.
