General Info

Ametrine is a two color form of the mineral quartz and is found in a single deposit in Bolivia. . Ametrine is purple (Amethyst) on one side and yellow (Citrine) on the other. It’s literally two gems in one!

Color is the primary value characteristic in Ametrine. The most prized Ametrines are a rich purple color on one side with a distinct line right in the center separating from a smooth, even yellow on the other. Large examples are regularly available for comparatively reasonable prices.

Treatments
There is a certain amount of debate about whether Ametrine is treated or not. The miners insist that it isn’t while many of the traders are certain that it is. If it’s treated, the treatment seems to be permanent under normal conditions.

Care Instructions :

Ametrine, and all of the quartz based gemstones are made of silica, the most common material on earth. They can be scratched by simple dirt and dust. Care should be taken when cleaning to avoid scratching the surface and they should not be worn in circumstances where the stone will come in contact with other items.
