Andalucite is the crystalline form of Aluminum Silicate. Andalusite is named after Andalusia, the province of Spain where it was first discovered. It is now found in sites throughout the world. It has a distinctive pleochroism that earns it the name ‘poor mans alexandrite' The best specimens show both an olive-green and a pinkish orange color depending on the lighting and the angle of view.
